KaBoom with COVID-19: Celebrating the Fourth During a Pandemic

Jun 23, 2020

Can you believe we’re already getting ready to celebrate the 4th of July? It seems like that full-moon, daylight savings Friday the 13th in March was just yesterday, but at the same time, it was so long ago.

It’s safe to say that 2020 has been a different year for everyone, and it’s one for the history books with a lot of stressors. We could all take 15 minutes, take a break, and enjoy a good old- fashioned fireworks show.

Different states are in various phases of reopening and have varying rules about social distancing requirements. So maybe you’re looking to park in an empty field, you’re trying to watch from outside your own home, or perhaps you’re looking to stream some live fireworks online.

Here are some shows around the nation we have found for you to celebrate America’s Independence:

New York

Manhattan is hosting the annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks. While there will be no gathering if you are in the area, you can watch it on NBC nationally at 8PM EST. You can get all the details here.

Washington, D.C.

D.C. is hosting its annual A Capitol Fourth. This fireworks show also has no physical place to gather, but you can watch it on any syndicated PBS channel.

Chicago, IL

The Evanston Fourth of July Association is streaming a 4th of July Parade at 2PM CST on their Facebook and Youtube channel. You can also see their live Fireworks show at 8PM CST.

Centennial Park in Orlando Park will have its annual firework show. They are requesting that groups stay smaller than ten people, and groups remain six feet apart. You can also live-stream it on their Village YouTube channel.

Seattle

This year, they have a drive-thru fair at the Washington State Fair Grounds. There might even be prizes for decorating your car! Get all the information on cost and time here.

Los Angeles

Typically, LA would be buzzing with their annual block party, but this year they’ve made it virtual. While some events will air on their local ABC channel, everyone will eventually tune in on Facebook for music and fireworks.

Omaha, NE

If you’re lucky enough to live in the great place where we are headquartered, there’s a fireworks show at Werner Park after a doubleheader of baseball. Fireworks are expected to start around 10 PM CST, and more information can be found here.
